Top Uncluttered Websites

September 10, 2010

1. Mnmlist.com
Website by Leo Babauta of ZenHabits.net, devoted to minimalism. Almost Ideal Uncluttered Website! It's entry page is only 18K, and others are under 8K.

2. UseIt.com
The famous site of the legendary Jakob Nielsen, inventor of the original niche called "usability". All pages are 10-20K. Because of simplicity, the web design for the site seems often was a subject of mockery among advanced developers. Yet, it has been worked successfully during the last 15 years!

3. PaulGraham.com
A beautiful collection of nicely written essays from the founder of the famous Y Combinator. I love them all! The site's front-end is only 26K, with main pages under 40K. My special message to Paul Graham: "Do not change design of this site! PLEASE! It's ideally perfect!!!"

4. Fettig.net
The blog of a former Google's employee with a remarkably SIMPLE visual design! I was so impressed that choosen it as an initial prototype for my Mini-WWW's blog! For example, I used similar colors and font sizes. But obviously, my code is not the same. And while Fettig's pages are almost 35K, the Mini-WWW's ones are less than 7K.

5. TextPad.com
A very simple, yet multilingual (and multi-product) business website. Its neatly designed pages are 20K.

6. In-formation-design.com
A beatiful website with pages of about 23K.

7. Amylevypr.com
Example of very accurate design! Probably the SIMPLEST visual outline. Less than 25K.

8. UnPhotographable.com
A tiny text-only blog with 35K pages.

9. JKRowling.com/textonly/en/
Text version of the Official Site of J.K.Rowling, author of the "Harry Potter" books. All pages under 40K.

10. FringeWebDesign.com
Just a nice design blog with pages of about 50K.

P.S.
Because of ethical considerations, I did not include in the above list my own sites, e.g., at.Mini-News.com or Mini-WWW.com/blog/. Despite all their pages are under 10K.
