August 23, 2010
The free tip for Google's biographers:
For years, the month August played a mystically outstanding role in the destiny of Google.
On August 19, 2004, Google went public raising nearly $2 billion in the largest technology IPO ever... On August 21 (two days ago) there was Sergey Brin's birthday... The list can go on and on.
But the most amazing, - from my point of view, - thing in the history of Google happened 12 years ago. Listen to how this describe David Vise and Mark Malseed in their book about Google:
"On a sunny California morning in late August 1998, Larry and Sergey sat on the front porch of a Palo Alto house awaiting the arrival of a Silicon Valley angel."
It was a really turning point for the guys. Because name of the angel was Andy Bechtolsheim. And with his check for $100,000 he signed that evening, Sergey and Larry later incorporated Google!
In fact, they raised almost $1 million by that point (no envy, this is America). But the first big check began it all. This fairy tale the guys will remember during all their life!
The point of this article is to offer the Google a unique opportunity to invest into the thing, it would never consider worth investing, - Search Engine for AD-less Web! Hey, Google earns $billions on its ad products. Why it could possibly be happy to implement that?
Today, August 23, is the first birthday for my Mini-WWW Search Engine. It already has its own MiniRank (MR) formula, like Google's PR, but for Minimalism ranking. I am indexing first hundred webpages for it. And on completing, the Mini-WWW will be alive.
"Mini-WWW" could be an another vertical option in the main Google's search engine, in addition to its existing categories "News", "Images", "Web", etc. The MiniRank could be bolted into PageRank for adjusting Google's scores. Ultimately, the Mini-WWW Directory could be LICENSED to other search engines!
At some point in its history Google was almost ready to sell its technology for a mere 1$ million. It's difficult to imagine now, - they asked just one million! Amazingly, but nobody wanted to buy Google for such symbolic price. And that's despite all people knew the search is a must-have-feature for EVERYBODY on the Internet. They knew it, but simply didn't want to pay for that.
In the case of Mini-WWW, it's currently just one person, with no funding, - and even with no right to enter American soil, - who tries to build the Next Search Engine world class service without his own home, car, and practically no computer!!! And on a shared hosting account.
I could say to Google "Buy Me!"
Meaning, "Buy Mini-WWW, please!"
Should I? How this differs from a beggar on the street who asks for a penny or two? The first difference is it asks for a $MILLION. More important, it can give you much more in return.
Google, learn from your own success story
- be the FIRST ADless search engine!
P.S.
There is yet another birthday today, - for my first ever website:
On August 23, 2001 I registered the 2D-Infospace.com domain name!
Although the site was "frozen" since Infospace, Inc. ordered me to stop my 2D-Infospace project, I was paying for hosting that domain during last nine years no matter what. Because 2D-Infospace has always been a kind of big symbol for me. And today it has expired.
Sadly enough, but right now I've got no money to prolong it ...
